Juan is taking his cabbages to market

Juan is taking his cabbages to market, hauling them down the valley in his donkey cart. After a few miles, it starts to rain, soon becoming a torrential downpour.

Juan looks up and says "God, why you do this to me, eh?"

As he struggles onward, leading his donkey down a winding trail, the road suddenly collapses, sending him, the donkey, the cart, and the cabbages sliding down the hill. They finally stop at the bottom of the valley, where Juan discovers his donkey has broken its neck and died, his cart is in pieces, and half of his cabbages are ruined.

Juan looks up and says "God, why you do this to me, eh?"

He manages to make a sledge out of what's left of the cart, gathers up the cabbages he can still sell at market, and trudges onward. After several grueling miles, he is in sight of the village market, when suddenly, he is set upon by banditos, who steal his cabbages, his sledge, and his clothes, leaving him only an old red poncho and riding away laughing.

Juan looks up and says "God, why you do this to me, eh?"

So Juan starts back to his farm, trudging through the rain, freezing in his old red poncho, and wondering how it could get any worse, when he trips over a tree root exposed by the torrential rain and sprains his ankle.

Sitting in the mud, freezing, miserable, totally without hope, Juan looks up and says "God, why you do this to me, eh?"

Suddenly, the rain stops, the clouds disperse, the sun shines down, and Juan hears a deep, sonorous voice echo from on high...

"I don't know, Juan...something about you just pisses me off."
