Two hunters were walking through the woods

Two hunters were walking through the woods trying to find a spot to set up their deer stand. During their search they found a large hole in the middle of the woods. They looked down into the hole and were unable to see the bottom, so they started trying to find things they could throw to see how deep the hole was. After throwing some sticks and not hearing anything land, they look around and find an old rusty anvil to throw down the hole. They drop the anvil and try to listen for a splash or thud, but they still don't hear anything.

All of a sudden, they hear a loud crashing coming through the woods. They look up and a goat is running full speed at the hunters and jumps right between them and right down into the hole.

At this point the hunters are utterly confused and scratching their heads as they look down into the hole trying to figure out why the goat just jumped down head first. As they're doing so, a faint rustling noise is coming from the woods, near where the goat had come from. They look up and this time, see a farmer walking through the woods. The farmer quickly asks, as he sees the hunters, "Hey, have either of you guys seen a goat around here?" The hunters look at eachother and tell the farmer that they just saw his goat run through the woods and jump down the hole.

The farmer looks at them and tells them, "That's impossible, the goat was tied to an anvil"
