So I like this sub for the occasional one liner or [sensible chuckle every now and then.](https://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m84tmvNfOP1qa4kw5o1_1280.gif).
I've also noticed that there are quite a many racist jokes that tend to get upvoted to the front page of the sub and are usually rife with arguments in the comments section on whether or not the joke is racist (if your discussing whether or not it is, then there obviously is some sort of racial prejudice being introduced).
Just wondering what this community thought of that, if they think of it at all. Just to be clear I am a white male in my early twenties so personally I have never experienced attacks of racial bias, but I do feel shame whenever I see a racially charged joke on here because I know for a fact that humor reflects personality. It's impossible to separate oneself from the humor that one finds affinity with. And if you think that a joke about a bunch of black people stealing a car because of the racial stereotype that black people commit crime is funny because of the content and not because of the irony of the racial bias that is being highlighted, then I have to say I think your a bad person.
Making jokes about racial prejudice isn't inherently racist. Just when the joke relies on the negative racial bias being a common thought. That makes it racist.
Maybe I am overthinking this, but I know a lot of people don't like to think about race at all because the mere thought of it makes them worried they are going to be considered racist. That being said, if you don't think about racism then you can still be racist. So think about it you fucking racists. Think about why something is funny to you and if it's because of negative bias or harmful thoughts, then maybe try and think about something more positive.
There's enough racism out in the real world, we don't need to glorify it here.
Many of the jokes are contributions from our users. If you find anything offensive and against our policy please report it here with a link to the page. We will do everything to make this an enjoyable platform for everyone.
