The Viper

A man lives alone in a large house. It was a stormy and dark Tuesday evening and the man was up watching TV, unable to go to sleep.

Suddenly, the phone rings:

The man picks it up, but all he hears is loud breathing. Finally, a voice comes on the line and whispers "I am the viper"

Startled and a bit disturbed, the man hangs up the phone.

Twenty minutes later the phone rings again: "I am the viper" repeats the voice, louder.

At this point the man is very disturbed and he quick throws the phone down on the receiver and retreats to his bed.

As he lay there frightened and trying to go to sleep he hears a soft tapping that seems to be coming from his front door. He tries to ignore it but the tapping gets louder.

Finally, the man decides he was being foolish and decides to investigate, at his own peril.

He makes his way downstairs and flings open the front door.

There, standing on his front porch was an old man carrying a bucket and a brush. "I am the viper," he says, "I vant to vash your vindows."
