The Lone Ranger and Tonto are riding through the desert one day, and it just so happens that it's unnaturally hot. The Ranger and his Indian sidekick are sweating and panting, and their horses are in even worse shape. They're nearing a town where they can stop and rest, but are still miles out when Tonto's horse dies.
"Get up in Silver," The Lone Ranger tells his partner. "He's a strong horse, he can get both of us there."
Tonto does and they just manage to get to the town without Silver passing out or worse. They stop at a saloon, with the idea to get a couple big, cold beers.
"You go in," Tonto says. "I'll get Silver cooled down and then come join you, go ahead and order me a beer."
The Ranger nods and heads into the saloon. Tonto looks at Silver, who looks so hot that he could be on his last legs. Thinking quickly Tonto whips his feathered head dress off and begins fanning it at the horse. To his surprise it seems to be working, but only in the one small spot that he can fan at once. So Tonto takes off, running around the horse and fanning it all over.
A man walking by pauses, his brow quirking as he watches the Indian fanning the horse and running around it in a circle. The man enters the bar and calls out, "Who owns that gray horse out there?"
The Lone Ranger spins on his bar stool. "I do," he says.
"You left your Injun running."
