The Cavalry Colonel

It's 1865 and a cavalry colonel has just been assigned to an indian reservation. On his first day he takes his horse out for a ride through the camp. As he passes The Chief's tent the battered old Sioux warrior greets the colonel with a raised middle finger which he then turns 90 degrees. Not wanting to make a scene the colonel rides on. Every day for two years the same thing happens. Every morning the same two salutes. One middle finger pointing up and the other to the side. Finally the colonel is re-assigned to a new post. On his last day at the end of his ride he dismounts and walks up to The Chief. "I don't want to start anything Chief but I have to ask. I know what this means" he says displaying the rude gesture. "But what the heck is this?" he asks now replicating the weird sideways fuck you. "Means I don't like your horse either" The Chief says blankly.
