It was perfectly done in every detail, and the owner was fantastically pleased. There was Italian marble in the kitchen, Persian carpets in the living room that matched the mahogany bookshelves, and even a concert grand piano hand made in Germany.
To celebrate the completion of the project, he decided to throw an extravagant party with all his friends. There was food and drink in endless supply and excellent music and conversation all night.
As large parties tend to do, things got a little out of hand and one of the guests began dancing on the brand new piano. Tom was able to quickly get them down, but not before the delicate tuning was thrown off. Understandably upset, Tom despaired at the cost of re-tuning his prized piano.
"Don't worry," said one of his friends. "I know a guy who will tune your piano for free. He's this old Greek guy by the name of Opernokite (Op-err-nock-it-ee), here's his card."
Overjoyed, Tom calls Opernokite the next day and the tuner agrees to come see what he can do. That afternoon, the older gentleman arrives at Tom's house with his tools and with little preamble, begins working on the grand instrument. Within the hour he has the piano sounding as good if not better than before and, as advertised, charges nothing for his work.
A couple weeks later, Tom decides to throw another huge party, and somehow the jerk who screwed up his piano before gets invited along again, whereupon he gets drunk, dances on the piano, and again throws it out of tune.
The next day, Tom calls the piano tuner to have him come back, but the old man refuses.
"Why?" He asks, "Is it money? I'll happily pay you."
"It's not that." The old man replies, "Opernokite only tunes once."
