... along a canyon road. he continues aimlessly into the night while thinking about how his life has fallen apart. his life was over, after all -- but for now the trip out into nowhere was enough to distract him from the suicidal thoughts in his head.
eventually the man parks his car and turns the ignition off. as his eyes are adjusting to the darkness, the man makes out a silhouette about 50 yards from his car. naturally curious, he exits his car as quietly as possible and begins to venture towards this mysterious shadow. much to the man's surprise, the person waiting out here is nothing but a child. "hey, what are you doing out here, kid?" no reply. the man suddenly realizes that this little girl must be lost. he moves closer to ask, "where on earth are your parents? how long have you been out here?" again, no reply.
at this point the man is unsure if this girl is even aware of his presence. all of the sudden, she makes eye contact with him and then points to the bottom of a ravine. although there isn't much light, he can make out what appears to be a car wreck.
"christ! you were in a car accident and those were your parents!", the man realizes. the girl simply closes her eyes and nods her head. at this point the man unzips his fly and says, "wow, today is not your lucky day."
