Once there was an Indian Chief named Big Chief No-Fart. His claim to fame was that he would never, ever fart. Every day, people came from miles around to test Big Chief No-Fart and see if they could be the ones to finally make him break wind. Yet Big Chief No-Fart did not fart.
One day a group of men came to witness Big Chief No-Fart's powers. One of the Chief's guards greeted the men. A man said, "I know what will make Big Chief No-Fart fart. Here is a can of beans. Feed it to Big Chief No-Fart. Surely he will fart!"
The guard took the can of beans and entered the Chief's tepee to feed him. A few moments later he returned. "Well?" said the men.
"Big Chief. No Fart." replied the guard.
A second man said, "Here, I have 10 cans of beans. Feed them all to the Chief. Then he will fart!" The guard took the beans and fed them to the Chief, then returned.
"Well, has he farted?"
"Big Chief. No Fart."
A third man said, "My, he is quite stubborn! But here, I have 100 cans of beans. If you feed them all to the Chief, he will have to fart."
Once again, the guard took the beans. Can by can, he fed Big Chief No-Fart the beans, then returned to the men. Eager to hear the news that they had broken Big Chief No-Fart's streak, their faces sunk when they heard the words:
"Big Chief. No Fart"
Finally, a fourth man said, "This is quite astounding. No man has ever eaten so many beans and resisted a fart. But I know what we can do. I have 1,000 cans of beans. Please, feed them to the Chief so we can finally get him to fart."
The guard took the beans with him to feed Big Chief No-Fart. A long while later (as you can imagine it takes a long time to eat 1,000 cans of beans) the guard returned to the men, his face aghast.
"Well??" Asked the men.
"Big Fart. No Chief."
