When they reach the pearly gates, One Zebra addresses Saint Peter, "Hey Peter, now that we're here, we have to ask; are we black with white stripes or white with black stripes?"
Peter furrows his brow, thinking hard, then says, "Well guys that's one you'll have to ask the big man once you get inside."
After finally getting a chance to meet god, the zebras ask him, "God, we've always wondered, are we black with white stripes, or white with black stripes?"
God looked over the zebras for a moment then proclaimed, "You are who you are."
Confused, the zebras leave to find Saint Peter. When they do, Peter asks them, "Well guys, did you get your answer?"
"All he said was 'you are who you are'," said the zebras.
"Oh, well then you're white!" replied Peter.
"How do you know?" asked the zebras.
"Because," said peter, "If you were black he would have said, 'You is who you is.'"
