Steve's first day with the DEA 'scared straight' programme.

So Steve gets a job working with the Drug Enforcement Agency tasked with scaring kids off drugs. His first day sees him working alongside an ex-drug user, Keith.

When they arrive at the first school, things are not running as smoothly as orginialy planned, and the headmistress says that the have double booked - two classes are expecting the talk at the same time. The rookie is nervous already and tells his partner he's not sure what they should do.

Keith says "don't worry; I'll do one class you do the other." After realising they only have one set of materials, Keith hands Steve a 10c piece and a 50c piece, saying "just use these" and heads off to the first class room.

Steve, gathering himself, manages to think up an analogy using the coins - showing the kids the larger, 50c piece and explaining that "this is your brain" and using the 10c piece to explain that "this is your brain on drugs". It was an awkward presentation and the kids are not very engaged.

Steve was down on himself on the drive back to the office and asked Keith what reception he had received: "Terrific, I don't think any of them will be using drugs any time soon". Steve was quick to ask how'd he'd managed that - and Keith, the ex-user, holding up the 10c piece in one hand, says "This was my asshole before jail..."
