A diabetic patient who has had declining health for the past year hit a low point and needed their left leg amputated. Prior to surgery the surgeon comes in to give the patient some reassurance that everything should go smoothly. The surgeon explains that they will remove the limb just below the joint and the patient will get fitted for a prosthetic later that week.
After surgery the patient wakes up hours later to see that their left arm is missing as well as their left leg. Outraged and confused the patient demands to see the surgeon. When the surgeon arrives they explain that their was some confusion during surgery about which limb needed to be removed. The patient demands that the surgery be paid for by the surgeon so the surgery cost both of them an arm and a leg.
