The captors have all three soldiers lined up in front of them, and the captors' leader stepped forward, holding a pistol with one hand while the other hand lays on a Bible on the table next to him. "Before I execute all of you, I shall allow each of you to make one and only one last request. You cannot change it."
Glancing at the Bible, he swore, "I swear by the name of Lord that your request shall be fulfilled, for we are honorable men. May God damn me if I dare to go against this oath."
The first man stated, "I want to be buried in my military uniform. I have been a soldier for many years and I shall die a soldier for the motherland."
The second man pleaded, "Please tell my wife that I love her, my children that they are always on my mind, and my government that I am loyal to the country to the very end."
Finally, the last one said, "I want to be freed."
