But his soul does not ascend, it remains trapped in his body. The tribe's shaman senses that something has gone amiss, and alerts the tribe that the spirit of their passed elder remains trapped in his body. Shocked, the tribe mutters to itself, until one voice cries aloud, above the rest:
"But why? Our leader was the image of a chieftain, we would all have gladly followed him to our deaths!"
The shaman paused, before responding:
"He didn't have any rites."
