When they get there they are met by St. Peter, who says "Well, it looks like you've all been faithful to God in your respective ways, but we've gotten so crowded and particular with heaven that we have to break you into your particular faiths."
The three nod in agreement, as while they were good people, they all recognized their differences within their faith.
The Catholic is first. When the gates to Catholic Heaven open, they sees a less-than-ideal heaven. The Catholic says "God, you have taught me to be thankful for all that I have. I know that I should be thankful for what you give me in salvation."
The Lutheran is next. The doors to Lutheran Heaven open up, and a place filled with happy people, but with homes of mud and clothes made of rags. The Lutheran says, "God, I you have taught me to be thankful for everyone I have. I know that this is the true meaning of salvation."
The Protestant is last. The doors to Protestant heaven open up to reveal a heaven that is absolutely perfect, to ones wildest dreams, but the entirety of it is covered in animal feces. The Protestant says "God, you have taught me to be strict and righteous. This is insulting and I believe you have forsaken me."
St. Peter smiles at the three of them and says: "That was a test of faith. Heaven is just past me." He looks at the Protestant. "As for you, we realize that our test was decieving, but we know you have been a good person. So we are testing this idea: an imperfect heaven for those not perfectly faithful. Welcome to Lutheran heaven!"
