Prof. Akunuri V. Ramayya, an alumnus of Andhra University and a nuclear physicist at Vanderbilt University of USA, has discovered a new super-heavy element by combining Hydrogen, Argon, Americium and Beryllium. The breakthrough was made and the element was discovered with the aid of scientists in a Cincinatti research facility. This is an exciting discover and has both answered and raised many questions. Nonetheless this is a very exciting scientific development. Prof. G. Nageswara Rao, has expressed his happiness and congratulated Prof. Ramayya for the great honour he brought to AU. “Prof. Ramayya and his research partners were duly honoured for their novel contribution to Nuclear Science,”. In an usual and unexplained move element is to be named Memeium, the scientists say it is due to the names of the elements used. This is another great day for science in 2016
