My Dad's favourite joke

An Alien, tired after a long galactic trip, finds himself in the deepest, darkest fathoms of the West Country. With such a long distance travelled, he decides to wet his whistle in one of the West Countries many pub. As we all know however, these are not the friendliest of places...

So the Alien walks into the bar, and all goes quite. Grizzled men stare from beneath their pints, this guy is clearly not a local. Unphased by the menacing atmosphere, the alien walks to the bar and asks for a pint of cider. The bartender, glancing at the locals as if to wonder who this guy is in their pub, responds with "Sorry mate, we don't serve your kind in here". The Alien looks shocked, but he is determined to get a drink. He puts his long, grey arm around one of the locals; an old farmer who has clearly seen better days, and says "tell you what, i'll buy this fella' a drink as well, if i can have a cider." The bartender looks unmoved, and repeats his statement "sorry mate, no can do."

Well, at this point the alien sighs, and points to a table of young lads, enjoying a round. He says "tell you what, i'll be these fine gentleman a round as well." Well by now people are beginning to support the alien, especially as he is now buying drinks for half the pub. Sadly the barkeep repeats his rhetoric, "nah mate, can't do it". "Fine" the Alien says, "I'll buy everyone in the pub a round, as well as all the peanuts they want for the rest of the night". A few men stand up now, cheery faces, and slap the alien on the back like an old mate. "Come on mate" they say, "let him have what he wants". The bartender, seeing how the whole pub is now supporting the alien, finally agrees. He goes to grab the long awaited pint glass when the alien stops him....

"Sorry mate, have you got change for a Zog?"
