Delivery

Disclaimer: Racist, but a black man told it to me, so I'm allowed to share.

There's a really kind-hearted delivery truck driver whose name is Steve. Steve has some good friends that he knows through work. One of his best friends is named Wally. Wally's wife had come down with pneumonia, so Wally, who is assigned to deliver a truckload of bowling balls through a storm, asks Steve to take care of the delivery for him. Being such a kind-hearted person, Steve agrees.

Steve leaves early because he knows that the storm would require him to drive slower, and he wanted the bowling balls to be shipped on time. While Steve is driving his truck down a street, he sees a young black man walking back to his house. Steve stops at a red light and thinks about what Jesus would do. He quickly steps out of his car and yells to the black man, "Hey bud! Need a ride?" even though it's against company policy to pick up hitch hikers. The young black man accepts his offer.

Steve opens the back of the truck and he and the young black man both step in. The young black man introduces himself as Jared. Steve explains to Jared that, due to company policy, he is not allowed to pick up hitch hikers, and thus can't allow the dripping wet Jared into the cab of the truck with him, as his boss would see and thus know he'd broken policy. Watching Jared's face fall, Steve quickly clarifies that he can still drop him off wherever he needs to go after he makes his delivery, if only Jared would ride in the back with the bowling balls. Jared understands and thanks Steve for his kindness, then watches, smiling warmly, as Steve exits the back and walks back around to the front of the car.

Steve continues driving Wally's route to the new bowling alley through the raging storm. About 2/3 of the way to his destination, driving up a hill, he passes another young black man, but this one is riding a bicycle. Steve can tell that he's struggling to pedal at the steep angle, so he pulls over and puts on his hazards. He invites the young black man into the back of the truck, just as he did with Jared. With the 3 of them and a bike semi-cozy, they begin to chat in the back of the truck. Steve explains the situation to the second young black man (whose name is Trey) and he also agrees to wait out the delivery with Jared.

The two young black men continue to chat as the truck rumbles along the route, discussing the kindness and openheartedness of Steve. Soon, they feel the truck come to a stop and hear other voices outside the truck. They press their ears to the sides of the truck to listen.

"License and registration, sir?" Says a voice.
"Of course, officer. What's this all about?" Replies Steve's voice.
"Just a standard check. There's been an increase of drug smuggling recently and we're really cracking down. Hey, George, would you go check the back for me?" Says the first officer.

Trey and Jared listen to Officer George's boots crunch along the gravel to the back, then watch in fear as he unlocks the back and takes a look inside.

Officer George stares blank faced for a few seconds at Jared and Trey, standing among the bowling balls with a bicycle. After about 8 seconds had passed, Officer George closes the back and walks around to the front of the truck.

He says, in a quiet voice, "Hank, let them go."
"Huh? I haven't ran their plates yet, George. Hold on a minute."
"YOU DONT UNDERSTAND, HANK. LET THEM GO!" he yells.

Officer Hank waves them forward frantically, knowing his partner doesn't joke about when it comes to danger.

Confused but relieved, Steve drives away with Jared, Trey, and Trey's bike still in the back with all the bowling balls.

After the truck leaves, Officer Hank asks Officer George, "What the hell was that all about, man?!"

George replies, in absolutely horror, "That truck was full of nigger eggs!! Two had hatched and one had already stolen a bike!!"
