Going into college, I had no interest in Greek life. I'm very social I just don't like the idea of frats/sororities; so much so **that I got the two mixed up sometimes**. At the college I go to, the new members of some frat (let's call it frat A) have to go around getting a big paddle signed by girls (idk why. pretty stupid). The guys in their rival frat (frat B), try to steal them from the guys and don't give them back. It's actually causes many fights.
So one day, I'm walking back from class and a group of 4 guys who are the big Frat Stars/big shots in Frat B look at me (thinking I'm in a frat A) and ask "hey bro where's your paddle?" It caught me off guard so I immediately shot back saying 'nah bro I didn't join a sorority'. All 4 of them went 'OOOOHHHH SNAP GOOD ONE BRO!!' I was so confused. They were laughing so hard and even stopped and introduced themselves to me. I just stood there so confused as to what I did or said that made them laugh so hard. Finally, I was putting my key into my dorm door and realized that I said 'sorority' instead of 'fraternity'
To this day, i'm pretty tight with a lot of guys from Frat B even though I'm an independent, all because of a joke I didn't intend to make.
